Stephen Waruru dropped from Harambee Stars Cecafa squad

Former Ulinzi Stars striker, Stephen Waruru has been dropped as Paul Put named his final squad for the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

Despite finishing among the top the scorers in the just ended Kenyan Premier League season with 13 goals, the newly appointed Harambee Stars head coach, Put still chopped Waruru in favour of KPL top scorer, Masoud Juma of Kariobangi Sharks, AFC Leopards’ youngster, Vincent Oburu and Kepha Aswani of Nakumatt.

Also dropped are Zoo Fc’s Nicholas Kipkirui, Benjamin Mosha  (Sony Sugar), Lawrence Juma of Nzoia sugar.

Kipkirui’s teammate, Isaac Kipyegon, however, made it to Put’s lineup alongside Vihiga United's Bernard Ochieng and Charles Momanyi of Kakamega Homeboyz.

Kenya will open her campaign aginst Rwanda on Sunday.

Goalkeepers: Boniface Oluoch (Gor Mahia), Patrick Matasi (Posta Rangers), Gabriel Andika (AFC Leopards).

Defenders: Musa Mohammed, Wellington Ochieng (Gor Mahia), Jockins Atudo (Posta Rangers), Dennis Sikhayi (AFC Leopards), Charles Momanyi (Kakamega Homeboyz), Bernard Ochieng (Vihiga United), Isaac Kipyegon (Zoo Kericho), Wesley Onguso (Sofapaka).
