Stakeholders must resolve Ghana's football problems, says Partey

Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has urged stakeholders to help find solution to the country’s current football issues.

The Atletico Madrid star aired his views at the maiden edition of Ghana Football Awards which was held in Accra on Sunday.

Partey was named Ghana Player of the Year and best foreign-based Ghanaian player at the event which was overshadowed by the ongoing crises in the country’s football.

All football-related activities have been suspended by government, following the premiering of an investigative work by undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which revealed corrupt practices involving referees and football administrators.

"All the stakeholders must try their best to find lasting solutions to the problems because we need the players in top shape," Partey said.

"The league helps the best players to earn call-up to the Black Stars. Also, the players earn their daily meals [through bonuses and salaries] after playing every weekend so they should try and fix the problem because things are becoming increasingly terrible for the them," he added.

Partey also admitted that he was sad after missing the opportunity to make his debut appearance at the Fifa World Cup since Ghana failed to qualify.

"It was really sad because we could not qualify for the World Cup. It would've been my first time but we will try and do our best to make it in the next edition," he said.
