Mathare United suffered a 5-1 beating at the hands of Ulinzi Stars on Sunday

Mathare United assistant coach Salim Ali has faulted poor defending as the main reason behind the team's heavy defeat against Ulinzi Stars on Sunday.

The ‘Slum boys’ conceded three goals in the first half and other two in the second half as the Francis Kimanzi led side was defeated 5-1. With Kimanzi serving a touchline ban, it was his assistant who was in charge and the latter says the team has to work on its weakness.

"We defended poorly in the first 15 minutes and we were punished for that. The bad start made things very difficult for us.

"This is a very big loss in the history of Mathare United. We tried to get something when it was 3-1 but unfortunately we ended up conceding more. It is a big concern when we concede this way," he told the club’s facebook page.

Mathare United will play against Chemelil Sugar in their next match.
