Ronaldo sees yellow for bump after netting Juve's 5000th Serie A goal

Cristiano Ronaldo netted Juventus' 5000th all-time Serie A goal by scoring a penalty against Torino on Saturday, and earned himself a yellow card in the process.

The Bianconeri became the first Serie A side to reach the milestone when the Portugal star scored from the spot in the 70th minute of a scoreless Turin derby.

It was a chance that came about after a poor Simone Zaza back-pass was intercepted by Mario Mandzukic, who was then brought down by Torino goalkeeper Salvador Ichazo.

After the goal, which Ichazo nearly stopped, Ronaldo ran directly to the Uruguayan and bumped into him, earning a yellow card for the unnecessary contact.

Ronaldo's strike would be the only goal of the game, with Juve winning the match 1-0 to keep up their blistering start to the 2018-19 season.

Massimiliano Allegri's men have now won 15 of their opening 16 league fixtures, drawing the other match to maintain an unbeaten start. Juve have now equaled Manchester City in 2017-18 and Barcelona 2012-13 for the best start to a season in the top five leagues in the three-point era.

The victory in the Turin derby also sees them match their best winning streak away from home in Serie A with their eighth straight triumph.

Juve have also reached the last 16 of the Champions League after topping Group H ahead of Manchester United.

Ronaldo, acquired in the summer from Real Madrid, has slotted in seamlessly to the Bianconeri lineup in his first season in Italy.

The 33-year-old has now scored 12 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions, and has also added eight assists.

Ronaldo also made headlines earlier in the week when he claimed that Juve already felt like "more of a family" than Real Madrid.

After learning their Champions League fate in Monday's draw, Juve return to action with a Serie A showdown against Roma next Saturday.
