Richards Bay FC raiding Orlando Pirates for Bafana Bafana defenders

New National First Division (NFD) club Richards Bay FC are reportedly raiding Orlando Pirates for new players.

Bay were recently established after former Thanda Royal Zulu chief executive officer Jomo Biyela acquired AmaZulu's National First Division (NFD) franchise.

AmaZulu had bought 2016/17 NFD champions Thanda's Premier Soccer League (PSL) status prior to the 2017/18 campaign.

Bay have been busy in the current Transfer Window signing former FC Cape Town midfielder Andile Khumalo and Khayelihle Shozi from Mamelodi Sundowns on loan according to reports.

Biyela recently confirmed that they are in talks with Pirates regarding the possiblity of signing several Bucs players.

Recent reports have indicated that Bay have signed Sandile Mthethwa, who is a Bafana Bafana international and Pirates central defender, on a season-long loan deal.

The promising player's club and national teammate Repo Malepe is said to be on the radar of the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit.

South Africa Under-20 captain Malepe spent the 2015/16 season out loan at Moroka Swallows from Pirates.

Mthethwa and Malepe, who are both 20, are part of the South Africa squad ahead of the 2018 African Nations Championship (Chan) qualifier against Botswana.

Both players did not feature for the Bucs first team last season, but they were reserve team regulars in the Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC).
