Premier League Golden Boot Betting: Kane remains favourite after opening day double

Harry Kane is bet365’s 10/3 (4.33) favourite to win the Premier League Golden Boot for a third time after opening his account for the season with a brace against Aston Villa.

Already the market leader at 4/1 (5.0) before kick-off, the Tottenham striker justified that with a late double on Saturday evening as he scored twice in the last four minutes.

Top scorer in the last two seasons, Mohamed Salah got off the mark in double-quick time in the season opener as Liverpool beat Norwich 4-1 on Friday night.

The Egyptian netted after just 19 minutes and is 5/1 (6.0) to make it a hat-trick of Golden Boots this term, the same price as he was before the season started.

Raheem Sterling leads the top scorer charts after one game of the season, though, with his hat-trick against West Ham leading bet365 to cut him from 12/1 (13.0) to 6/1 (7.0).

That was the Manchester City’s third career treble in the competition and punters who backed him at the longer price will be hoping there are many more this season.

Also at 6/1 (7.0) is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gunners forward shared the Golden Boot last season with 22 strikes and registered his first strike of this term in his side’s 1-0 win at Newcastle.

Sergio Aguero was on target in City’s 5-0 win over West Ham with a re-taken penalty, his seventh goal on the opening weekend of the Premier League, and the 31-year-old is an 8/1 (9.0) shot to become the oldest winner of the award since Didier Drogba in 2010.

Despite having 165 Premier League goals to his name and passing the 20-goal mark in each of the last five campaigns, the Argentine has ended a season as top scorer just once.

bet365 edged Marcus Rashford in from 16/1 (17.0) to 10/1 (11.0) after the Manchester United forward scored twice in the Red Devils’ 4-0 win over Chelsea.

Sadio Mane was afforded just 15 minutes of action on Friday as he seeks to regain match fitness following a busy summer, failing to find the net and prompting bet365 to push him out to 25/1 (was 12/1).
