Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to the future after Zambia starlet Lameck Banda was spotted at training with the club.

Banda, who is still 17-years-old was reportedly snapped up by the Tshwane giants earlier in the year but spent the last few months out at Zesco United.

However, it could be some time before Sundowns fans might be able to see the youngster in action for the first team as Mosimane has touted him as one for the future.

“Lameck is a youngster. Lameck is 17. He is our player, we parked him at Zesco. He has played in the Champions League this year. He is in and out of the Zambian national team… he is a baby,” Mosimane told members of the media.

“So, he is one for the future, not now. So far so good, he is getting there, still too young, he needs time,” he added.

Furthermore, Mosimane has likened Banda’s development to that of Phakamani Mahlambi, and the 54-year-old mentor has reiterated the fact that there is still a lot to be done with Mahlambi before he reaches his full potential.

“You can see Phaka he is still raw. Good talent, good prospect. I still have a lot of work to do there. I have to teach. It is the same when I had Percy Tau at 20 years, Bongani Zungu at 20, I had Keagan at 20,” he explained.

“So, he is 21 this year, I have to help, I have to support. It’s my duty to make him aware and play football the proper way. He is still behind, but what a good prospect. He shoots well, he is quick of the mark and he works hard,” he said.

“We need to support Bafana, Bafana must have the likes of Lebo (Maboe) and Phaka,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Mosimane has hinted that Sundowns might be looking to bring in further reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window.

“Sundowns has to change the team a little bit, need to bring in the young ones. So, with Phaka, Pitso, Lebo, Madisha, that’s the new generation of Bafana and hopefully we get another 23-year-old that we think will add value to our club," he revealed.

Sundowns have long been linked with a move for Maritzburg United star Siphesihle Ndlovu, but when quizzed about the identity of his next target, Mosimane was not as forthcoming.

“I don’t want to mention names,” Mosimane expressed.
