Masandawana booked their place in the next round with a resounding 7-1 aggregate win over Leones Vegetarianos

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane was delighted to see his side progress to the next round of the Caf Champions League but admitted that they should have been more lethal in front of goal.

Sundowns earned an impressive, 5-1 win over Leones Vegetarianos as they booked their place in the next stage of the continental tournament.

However, Mosimane felt that that his troops should have scored more on the night.

Gaston Sirino, Jeremy Brockie and Themba Zwane among others were all guilty of squandering decent goal scoring opportunities.

“In terms of qualifying we are happy to go through,” a content Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.

“We could have scored more but you also need to appreciate and be grateful sometimes. What I like is that they tried to play and go forward. They were dominant on the ball. They were getting their passing lines [right] like against SuperSport United," Mosimane was added.

Ahead of the clash, Mosimane chose to rest some players which included Rivaldo Coetzee, who started Sundowns’ last two games.

Mosimane also brought on Jose Ali Meza at half-time, who made an immediate impact netting in the second half.

“It’s good we bring on other players and it remains the same. It means there is proper continuation in the team,” he said.

While Sundowns made easy work of the side from Equatorial Guinea, Mosimane knows that the road to the group stages won’t be as easy. Next up, the Tshwane giants lock horns with Ahli Benghazi from Libya.

“It’s not going to be easy [in the next round] because Ahli Benghazi won we’ll have to go to Cairo now that’s a big one. We have team, if we play like this, create chances like this we should be able to win. We should just try and score away," he concluded.
