Anthony Okpotu is glad overcoming his 'rough patches' after he grabbed his first goal of the Wafu Cup of Nations in Nigeria's 2-0 victory over Ghana.

The Lobi Stars striker finished the Nigeria Professional Football League as the highest goalscorer with 19 goals, but prior to the victory over the Black Stars, he had struggled to deliver the goods for Salisu Yusuf’s men.

Getting his maiden effort delights him while stating the Super Eagles stance towards the semi-final game against Benin Republic at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday.

“The Wafu Cup of Nations has been a good experience despite my inability to score in my first three games. And as a striker you just have to go through some rough patches, sometimes,” Okpotu told Goal.

“But all things being equal, I’m happy that I’ve scored for my country.

“The other games we played against Benin Republic is a different ball game, this one too is a different ball game and us as a country and as a team, we are prepared to win.

“Our mindset is all about winning and we will go winning when we face them,” he concluded.
