Neymar hoping to see a better Brazil against Costa Rica

After a disappointing performance against Switzerland, the PSG star is hopeful his country's band of superstars can deliver in their second match

Brazil star Neymar is targeting an improved performance against Costa Rica on Friday after an underwhelming World Cup Group E opener against Switzerland.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward was one of a number of players to struggle against the Swiss as Brazil failed to live up to the pre-tournament hype surrounding them.

After the match, in which Neymar and his Brazilian team-mates were subjected to a good bit of rough play, the former Barcelona star asked for the referees to "do their job " and was forced out of Tuesday's training session with an ankle problem.

The 26-year-old returned to training on Wednesday and is raring to go, but hopes to see more out of his side against their Central American opposition.

Speaking to the Brazilian Football Confederation, Neymar said: "I hope we play a better game than in the debut against Switzerland and we want to win.

"We want to play well. We have seen footage of Costa Rica although the important thing is to play our football."

After taking on Costa Rica, Brazil will complete Group E by facing Serbia in Moscow.

The Brazilians trail Serbia, who took a win over Costa Rica in their opening match, in the Group E standings.
