New France hero Lemar plays down transfer talk as Arsenal & Liverpool wait on

Arsenal and Liverpool target Thomas Lemar underlined his commitment to Monaco after a stunning performance for France on Thursday.

The 21-year-old put the Netherlands to the sword with two goals in the second half at Stade de France, the first of which was a truly spectacular left-footed volley from outside the area.

It is that sort of talent which has brought Lemar to the attention of the two Premier League giants, with speculation that a move to either the Emirates Stadium or Anfield could be completed before Thursday transfer deadline.

Speaking at the final whistle following France's 4-0 demolition of the Oranje, however, the player pointed out that he remained first and foremost loyal to his current employers.

"We’ll see what happens, but for the moment I’m at Monaco, and I’m very happy over there," he told reporters when asked about his future.

Monaco will be keen to hold onto their gem, after seeing Kylian Mbappe leave for Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day.

The teenager joins the likes of Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko in leaving during a painful window for the Ligue 1 champions, who must now hope Lemar bucks the trend and stays put in the principality.
