New date for Orlando Pirates v Mamelodi Sundowns match

Both Bucs and Downs are still in with a chance to win the PSL title this season, and this encounter could decide the destination of the league trophy

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed the rescheduling of the match between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in April.

Pirates were initially scheduled to host Sundowns on April 27, but according to the league, the match will now be played on April 1, 2019.

Reports suggest that the decision to move the fixture forward was to accommodate Sundowns, who are set to play the quarterfinals of the Caf Champions League next month.

The Buccaneers are trailing the Brazilians by three points, and this match could be seen as a potential title decider, especially because the two sides are close to each other on the log.

Micho Sredojevic's men are currently placed third on the PSL log with 40 points, while Sundowns top the standings with 43 from 23 league matches.

There was no winner the last time these two teams met in the league in November 2018 as the game ended in a goalless draw.

This fixture is scheduled to take place at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto. Kickoff will be at 19h30.

Meanwhile, Pirates' league match against Black Leopards has been moved to April 10. The encounter was initially pencilled for Friday, March 29.

With Sundowns set to take on Al Ahly on the weekend of April 5-7, their match against SuperSport United has been postponed.

However, the PSL is yet to release the new date for the clash, which could also impact the title race given that Matsatsantsa are also not too far away behind their hometown rivals.
