Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja believes that AFC Leopards will end their 19 years wait for a Kenyan Premier League title this season.

Speaking on Citizentv, Sajaka said that Ingwe, who last won the domestic trophy in 1999, have realistic chances of snatching the title from record champions Gor Mahia.

Sakaja, a self-proclaimed Ingwe fan, found himself in an awkward situation when he had to present the Super Cup title to rival rivals Gor Mahia at Afraha Stadium on Sunday.

“I have to congratulate Gor Mahia. We (AFC Leopards) fielded a young team that has the potential of winning the trophy this season.”

The new season is set to kick-off on February 2 with Ulinzi Stars taking on Zoo Kericho in the opening match.

AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia will also take part in the continental assignments - Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup respectively.
