Mourinho believes Ayew will come good at Swansea

Jordan Ayew at Swansea has been a mystery, and perhaps his entire career so far.

Following a move from Aston Villa in January, the striker found the back of the net just once in the Premier League last season, the goal, interestingly, coming in the very last game of the campaign.

Predictably, fans of the Jack Army are growing impatient, with many, too soon, holding out hopes of seeing his back at the Liberty Stadium.

But following Swansea's 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester United on Saturday, there's a man who believes the striker, with the return of injured Fernando Llorente, will make Swansea's attack a handful for opposing defenders.

"They have lost Gylfi [Sigurdsson] and they did not have Fernando who is an important player for them, he gives them different solutions and a different threat,” United boss Jose Mourinho said, as reported by Swansea's official website.

“I can imagine Fernando playing with Tammy [Abraham] and Jordan – [manager] Paul [Clement] is going to have some more solutions.

“He [Llorente] did good work last season and one point after two matches, when one of the games was against a top-seven side, is not a drama, so keep going and keep working hard.”

Ayew netted 10 times in 58 appearances for Aston Villa, having been acquired from French club Lorient in 2015.

Seven of his 10 goals were in the Premier League in 2015-16, after which the club got relegated to the Championship.

Lorient aside, Ayew has also played for Sochaux and Marseille in the French topflight.
