Mathare United drop former AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia players

The 2008 Kenyan Premier League champions Mathare United have parted ways with defender Mike Simiyu and forward Samuel Ndung'u.

The two players were signed by the ‘Slum Boys’ at the beginning of the year, but the duo did not meet coach Francis Kimanzi's expectations.

Clubs CEO Jackton Obure confirmed to Goal the team is still active in the market, adding that the team will go for any ‘quality player’ in the market.

"We have parted ways with Ndung'u and Simiyu but on mutual consent. All we can do is thank them for their services and wish them the best in their future endeavors.

"We are not done with the transfers. In fact, we might unveil about two players next week. Once we get the quality players we will usually go for them."

Mathare United is aiming at a top-five finish next season.
