According to the player’s agent, Paul Mitchell of Siyavuma Sports Agency, the player has impressed the KwaZulu-Natal outfit over the past few weeks.
The developments comes in the wake of Maritzburg having invited the Cape Town-born midfielder to train with the club after recently parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs.
On the other hand, the club confirmed that they are working on securing the midfielder’s signature.
Nonetheless, according to Mitchell, the club will make an announcement this week, but he could not divulge too many details on the impending transfer.
The creative midfielder was handed the number 10 jersey at Chiefs upon his arrival from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2016, but experienced an unfruitful stay at Naturena.
He played in just seven matches in all competitions in his first season under ex-coach Steve Komphela and only featured three times in the PSL for Amakhosi during the last term.
However, in order find a regular spot in the team at Maritzburg, he will wrestle for a starting berth with the likes of Lebohang Maboe, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Fortune Makaringe.
“There will be a development this week regarding Keagan, but the club will make an announcement,” Mitchell told Goal on Sunday.
“There is nothing I can tell you at the moment…yes he has impressed at training at Maritzburg, but let’s see this week,” he explained.
“Yeah I think he has a chance to showcase his talent after his stay with Chiefs – call me or my partner this week,” concluded the agent.
Should the midfielder sign for the Team of Choice, he will be expected to ensure the club continues to improve in the new season.
Under coach Fadlu Davids, United managed to reach the MTN8 Cup semi-finals and the Nedbank Cup final last season as well as they secured a fourth place finish in the league.
