Mamelodi Sundowns star attacker Percy Tau has been tipped to win the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Player of the Season award at the end of the current campaign.
The left-footed player has been in scintillating form this season - having scored nine goals 23 league games. He's only one goal behind the league's top goalscorer Rodney Ramagalela of Polokwane City.
“I always focus on the now and not on what is likely to happen in the future‚” Tau told the media at Chloorkop on Thursday.
The talented forward has been one of the Brazilians' key players as they look to clinch their eighth PSL title.
“Every time I get a chance to play‚ I always make sure that I give my all to contribute to the team and that is how I have always carried myself‚" he said.
Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Hendrick Ekstein have both backed Tau for the accolade.
"I feel I have done fairly well this season because I see a lot of progress in my work and the other advantage is that I am only 24 years old," the former Witbank Spurs player continued.
The forward also established himself as one of South Africa's key players during the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying campaign.
Tau found the back of the net twice in five appearances for Bafana Bafana in the qualifiers.
"There is a lot of football to be played and I don’t want to stay at one place but to keep on improving. Expectations are always there but I try not to focus on them too much but on what I need to do for the club and myself," Tau added.
"I have seen a lot of improvements in my game this season because‚ like I said earlier‚ I am always looking to improve," he concluded.
Tau and his Sundowns will face Rwanda champions Rayon Sports in the 2018 Caf Champions League first round second-leg match at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday.
The first-leg encounter ended in a 0-0 stalemate in Kigali almost two weeks ago. The winner on aggregate will advance to the group stage.
