Liverpool target Inaki Williams rejects transfer reports

Athletic Bilbao youngster Inaki Williams has ruled out a summer move away from the club, despite reports linking him to Liverpool.

The English outfit aside, the Spanish star of Ghanaian descent is reportedly on the wish list of Real Madrid following his impressive performance at San Mames since bursting onto the scene two seasons ago.

The 22-year-old has made 31 La Liga appearances involving 26 starts for the Rojiblancos this season, netting four times.

"Why [won't I want to leave]? Because I am at ease and I am where I want to be," Williams said, according to Tribal Football.

"I'm proud to be able to come here every day.

"I'm happy to be of interest for big teams, but I'm in the biggest and I want to have a career here for many years."

By and large, Williams' club success has been down to coach Ernesto Valverde, who has been at Athletic since 2013.

Rightly, the attacker has some kind words for the 53-year-old whose contract runs out in June.

"He is a great coach, the club and fans are very happy with him.

"We still do not think about who will be the next coach."

A Spanish youth international, Inaki has rejected overtures by Ghana, the country of his father, for a nationality switch.

He was one of three foreign-born players approached by immediate-past Ghana coach Avram Grant, the others being Timothy Fosu-Mensah of Manchester United and the Netherlands as well as Hamburg and Germany under-21 star Gideon Jung.

However, without a Spanish cap at senior level, Inaki is still eligible to represent Ghana.
