Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah believes Saturday's loss to Kenya in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying will sensitize the Black Stars about underrating opponents.
Kwesi Appiah's outfit were stunned in the Group F matchday two fixture in Nairobi as a Nicholas Opoku first half own goal ensured a 1-0 win for the hosts.
The setback has left Ghana tied on three points with the Harambee Stars and Sierra Leone, who play away to bottom-placed Ethiopia in the other matchday two tie in the group.
"We played so well and had a lot of chances with which we could have won the game but we couldn't make it," Asamoah, a second half substitute in the game - his first for the national team since 2014 - told Joy FM.
"This is a wake-up call for us to know that now in football there is no country you can beat easily.
"The outcome of the game will also motivate us to improve going into our next game."
Ghana's performance in Saturday's fixture has attracted criticism from local supporters, considering the fact that aside from Kenya having to do without their key player Victor Wanyama, they also had a man sent off in the 62nd minute.
The Black Stars return to action in October with a double-header against Sierra Leone.
Appiah's side must finish among the top two at the end of the qualifying series to book a place for next year's Afcon which will be hosted by Cameroon.
