Record Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are in the process of setting up their own Radio station.

Gor Mahia, Kenya’s biggest club by fan-base who draws a lot of following from the larger Nyanza region, is in talks with a local sports Association from Kisumu to set up the station.

According to Gor Mahia Secretary General Ben Omondi, talks are at an advanced stage as the new station may hit the airwaves as soon as August 2018.

“Exploring partnership with Manyatta Sports Association to set up Gor Mahia Community Radio whose frequency will serve Kisumu County then later expanded to other parts of the country,” Omondi said.

Omondi, however, did not expound whether the new station will be a commercial one to generate revenue for the club.

Gor Mahia have no direct source of income and over time, the club have depended majorly on sponsors and well-wishers to fund their activities.
