Kano Pillars’ Nyima Nwagua has expressed his excitement at his invitation to the Super Eagles who have two matches to play against South Africa and Uganda next month.

The Eagles will face South Africa at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on November 17 before entertaining Uganda at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba three days later in a friendly match.

Ngwua said the news of his call-up to the Eagles has helped erased the memory Kano Pillars implosion in the final of the Federation Cup when they let slip a 3-0 lead to eventually losing on penalties to Enugu Rangers last week in Asaba.

“I will say that I am grateful to God and to those who made this possible including my coaches and teammates at Kano Pillars and the hander of the Eagles, Gernot Rohr,” Nwagua told Goal.

“It was a pleasant surprise for me and I will cherish this day with fondness. I have no doubt in my ability to perform and I see my call-up to the Eagles as God’s way of consoling me after the way the Federation Cup campaign ended for us. It was a heartbreak for me which I am yet to recover from.

“This call-up has come at the right time and I pray that the will of God takes place. We thought we had the cup in our hands after playing such magnificently in the first half and the opening half of the second half. It is a lesson we have learned.”
