Sofapaka FC progressed to the quarter-finals of the Shield Cup after defeating National Super League side Western Stima 4-1.

Goals from Elly Asieche, Mukhisa Junior (own goal), Brian Magonya and Stephen Waruru reduced Kevin Okoth's goal to a mere consolation.

Head coach John Baraza is delighted with the output, and feels it will further motivate his team ahead of the next assignment. “Our main tactic is to possess the ball, once you do that, goals will come and that is what we did against Western Stima.

:We tried to deny them the ball and at the end of the day we managed to get the goals. It is a motivation to my side, we need to get used to this style of play and that reduces the pressure on us,” Baraza told Goal.

Sofapaka, Tusker, Kariobangi Sharks, Ulinzi Stars, River Plate and Police FC are already through to the next stage.

On Wednesday, defending champions AFC Leopards will play Mwatate while Posta Rangers will tackle Gor Mahia at Kasarani Stadium.
