The former Ghana U-23 assistant coach talks about the 'unfortunate' coaching situation of the Fire Boys

Veteran Ghanaian coach Joseph Emmanuel 'JE' Sarpong is unhappy about the ‘unceremonious’ separation of Ghana Premier League reigning champions Aduana Stars and head coach Yusif Abubakar.

Only a week to their Caf Confederation Cup clash with Congolese club AS Vita Club, the Fire Boys are in the search for a new coach after parting ways with Abubakar on Wednesday.

"I feel sorry for Yusif Abubakar who's just left Aduana Stars," Sarpong told Metro FM

"I also think it's not healthy for a club playing a continental game just the week ahead of us to part ways with its head coach.

"Coaching in Ghana for me is really pathetic. The freedom to work is not there. So how can you succeed?

"It becomes difficult for us the coaches. Until things change, it's always [going to be] tough."

Abubakar's biggest moment came last year when he guided Aduana to the Ghana Premier League title.

"To be honest, somebody like Yusif is a fantastic coach," Sarpong continued.

"Let me say that he deserves to handle even a national team, [only that] the old system of the Ghana FA didn't recognize him.

"National team jobs were given based on biased preferences. They look at your face and award you a job.

"I don't know why Yusif has not been even given a national team duty as at now. It's sad how it has ended at Aduana for him. I wish him well."

Reports say Abubakar could soon be named new coach of giants Hearts of Oak, who are also on the hunt for a new boss after the dismissal of underperforming Henry Wellington.
