Mumbai City head coach Jorge Costa felt that his side's 2-0 win against Pune City on Friday was well deserved.

After a good first-half which produced two goals for the hosts, one each by Moudou Sougou and Rafael Bastos, the Islanders were seen to be taking a more careful approach, They succeeded in keeping the scoreline intact and denied their rivals a comeback.

"It was a good first half. I think we played better than Pune City. We were much more aggressive without the ball.  We did good things with the ball," Costa said.

"With a 2-0 lead at half-time, I asked my players to keep a good defensive shape in possession. In the second half, we did not play well with the ball but without it, we fought hard."

Pranjal Bhumij once again had a good cameo in the second half. The Indian midfielder scored a belter after coming on as a substitute against Kerala Blasters in their last match but this time around, his objective was simpler.

"I am happy with him. He got us a point in the last game. He helped us keep it simple in this game."

The Portuguese tactician will be hoping to better Mumbai City's home record this season. The win against the Stallions is Mumbai's fourth win at home from the last 10 matches.

"Today (Friday) I am happy. The fans who came to the stadium are happy. I spoke with the owner, he is happy," Costa concluded.
