After a 1-0 loss at home to FC Pune City on Friday, Kerala Blasters joined Delhi Dynamos to hold an unwanted record in an Indian Super League (ISL) season.
Both teams have now failed to record a win in ten successive games in one season - a record across all five ISL editions.
Delhi Dynamos, who are rooted to the bottom of the 2018-19 ISL table, have lost six and drawn the rest of their ten games. Kerala Blasters have a solitary win under their belt. But that was in the first game of the season and they have not won after that.
David James' Kerala Blasters were pitted against ATK on the opening day at the Salt Lake Stadium where they managed to convincingly win the tie 2-0. Thereafter, they have drawn six games and lost four.
With 9 points from eleven games, playoff dreams are fast fading away for the Kochi-based outfit. The same is the case for Delhi Dynamos who are definitely out of the running.
The previous 'record' of the longest winless run in an ISL season was held jointly by four teams. In 2015, when the ISL only have 8 teams, FC Pune City failed to pick up a win in eight games, finishing second from bottom.
In 2017-18, when the league was extended to ten teams, three sides suffered an eight-game winless streak - ATK, NorthEast United and Delhi Dynamos. In fact, Delhi have now surpassed their own treacherous record.
If one goes to look at the all-time winless record, it is FC Pune City who top that list. After not winning in their last five ISL games in the 2017-18 season (including the play-off matches) and five subsequent games in 2018-19, their winless run extends to 12 matches.
Delhi Dynamos also top the list of longest losing streak in ISL history - a one they share with NorthEast United with six defeats in a row, achieved last season.
