ISL 2018-19: Carles Cuadrat - Miku is irreplaceable at Bengaluru

Carles Cuadrat has ruled Miku out until January

Bengaluru FC will look to extend their lead at the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) table to five points with a win against strugglers Pune City on Friday at the Kanteerava Stadium.

The Blues are the only unbeaten team in the league this season and have 19 points after seven matches. To make matters difficult for Pradhyum Reddy's Pune, Bengaluru have conceded only five goals so far.

Venezuelan striker Miku has been ruled out until January due to an ankle injury but coach Carles Cuadrat has called for a collective effort from his team to ensuring three points in the upcoming matches.

"Miku has had to fly to Spain. We finally decided that the best thing for him to him to get injections from the doctor at Raye Vallecano. He has worked with him so he is starting his recovery there. We hope to have him from January, we are going to miss him until January.

"I don't like to experiment a lot. In football, you have to have a plan and until now, the plan has been working for us because we are at the top of the table. Miku is an important player for the team but we have to be positive. We have to see that we give opportunities to players like Chencho, Semboi Haokip.

"Semboi was participating in the last two goals that we scored. They have to help us in moments that we need them and that is what is going to happen in the next games."

He further added, "Miku is the kind of player you cannot replace because you have to change the way you play. But it's interesting for us to try things that we have been working on until now. Like Dimas, if Dimas is in the team, we play in one kind of way, if he is not, we play another kind of game. That is true, we are going to be in another moment. But it is interesting for us to try things that we have been working on.

I am not only a head coach, but I am also a football fan. I prefer to see players like Miku and Diego for Pune City on the pitch. It is nice to have the best players on the pitch."

Delhi Dynamos Bengaluru FC

Cuadrat predicted Pune's approach to Friday's game to be similar to Delhi's. Both teams are desperate for three points.

"In football, it is a lot of momentum and dynamics and we are in a very good dynamic and they are in a very bad dynamic. They could break the dynamic against Jamshedpur, it gave them a new spirit but unfortunately for them, they didn't take advantage of that in their last game. They had chances and were working to get a result. NorthEast United are a very good team and they got three points.

"They are in that moment where they want to get points and they are going to come here like Delhi, to get three points. It will be a new test for us. I hope we can make a good game to get three points again."

The Spaniard also stressed the importance of having versatile players who can multiple positions at his disposal. "It is very important to have players who can play multiple positions. Everything little thing we have been doing is to get results. Every time I change Rahul Bheke for Nishu Kumar, or Rino Anto for Bheke, there is always a reason behind it.

"It's very important to have versatile players. Players like Harmanjot Khabra, Nishu and Bheke are very useful because you can change the way you play without needing a substitution.

The Bengaluru FC head coach is also unconcerned about who will take up the goalscoring duties in Miku's absence.

"I have a lot of respect for goalscorers. In our team we have Sunil and Miku who have a special touch for goals. We can be happy that Nishu Kumar and Rahul Bheke have been scoring."
