Indonesian club Persib Bandung deny interest from Bali United for Ghanaian Michael Essien

Persib Bandung sporting director Tedy Tjahyono has insisted that Ghana midfielder Michael Essien remains a player of the Indonesian club despite reports of an impending move from the team.

The 33-year-old was omitted from Persib's squad for the new season even with one year left on his contract, intensifying concerns about his future.

Essien was recently linked with a move to another Indonesian side Bali United and a couple of other clubs in China.

"It's not true [that Essien is joining Bali or a Chinese club]. It's just a rumour," Tedy told Persib's website.

"He will continue to enjoy all the rights each player of Persib is entitled to until things change. He was invited by Uefa and Chelsea, so he is now in London.

"That's why we have to find the best solution for him but there is no solution currently. If a solution arrives, we'll communicate it," he added.

Essien made 29 appearances for Persib last season and scored five goals in all competitions.
