'He’s a big stage player' - Peterside Idah lauds Ahmed Musa’s heroics

Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa has been described as a big stage player by former international Peterside Idah.

The Leicester City man, who recently completed a brief loan spell to CSKA Moscow, inspired Nigeria’s first World Cup 2018 win in Russia on Friday.

Prior to the match, Gernot Rohr’s men had crumbled to a 2-0 win against leaders Croatia and needed a vital win over the Vikings to gain a possible lifeline in reaching the knockout phase.

After a drab goalless first half, Musa replicated his heroic against Argentina at the Brazil 2014 World Cup, grabbing a second-half brace for the Super Eagles to silence Iceland 2-0 at the Volgograd Arena.

The former Kano Pillars man failed to get playing time with the Foxes in 2017/18 season, making only four appearances before he was sent back to his former Russian side where he rediscovered his scoring form.

And the former Super Eagles goalkeeper believes Musa stand a bright chance of attracting big offers following his individual brilliance at the World Cup.

“Somehow, he [Ahmed Musa] gets it right during the World Cup,” Idah told Goal.

“We've all complained about him. Sometimes, his performance is not the best but when he comes to the World Cup, he delivers. He has proved he is a big stage player and could make a difference for his team.

“I am happy for him as an individual and for the team too. He is still young by my reckoning and again, scoring at the World Cup opens many doors for you."

Musa will hope to continue his awe-inspiring form when Nigeria face Argentina in Group D decider in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday.
