Gor Mahia may consider assistant coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno for the top job

Gor Mahia assistant coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno could be appointed as the head of the technical bench following the untimely exit of Dylan Kerr.

Kerr resigned from his position on Thursday, leaving the Kenyan giants with few options; either to elevate the former Kenyan international to the top seat or find a suitable replacement between now and December 8, when the KPL season officially kicks off.

Gor Mahia's Deputy Secretary General Ronald Ngala says the club is yet to make a decision on the next K’Ogalo coach, but Zico will be elevated to the top job if the club fails to get a qualified replacement.

"We have not made a decision regarding who should take over from Kerr. Right now, the team is under safe hands of Zico. He is an experienced coach. Once we get someone who has what it takes to lead the team, then an official announcement shall be made, but let us not forget that Zico can lead us too."

This comes amid reports that top coaches, including former AFC Leopards tactician Luc Eymael, have been linked with a move to the record Kenyan champions.
