Ghanaian striker Hans Kwofie has refuted claims that he was kidnapped by terrorists in Tanzania on his way to training on Saturday.
The 29-year-old joined Singida United last week in a two-year deal following the mutual termination of his contract with Egyptian side FC Smouha.
Reports were rift in the local media that the former Medeama star was in trouble as the kidnappers were requesting for a ransom from his family before setting him free.
"I am getting calls from all over the place with claims that I have been kidnapped by [terrorists]. I just can’t believe it," Kwoffie told Ghanasoccernet.com.
"It’s extremely laughable to say the least. It’s a figment of people’s imagination.
"Go and check the official twitter handle of the club and you'll realise that what was reported was untrue. It was written in Swahili that I have started training and so I suspect whoever wrote the story missed the translation.
"I am here and training hard. I have not been kidnapped by anybody and so those reports must be disregarded. It’s extremely shocking to me. Some people are too much in a hurry to feel relevant and that’s problematic," he added.
Kwoffie won the 2016-17 Ghana Premier League topscorer award with Ashanti Gold after scoring 17 goals.
