Ghana defender Opare hoping to secure future at Royal Antwerp

Ghana defender Daniel Opare says he hopes to at least settle in one league after joining Belgian First Division A side Royal Antwerp last summer.

The 27-year-old became a journey man after parting ways with Real Madrid's Castilla in 2010 despite showing glimpses of a potential future star at a younger age.

He played for six clubs in the last eight seasons including Standard Liege, FC Porto, Besiktas and Lens.

“I previously played in Belgium and I know how the league is. For some couple of years now, I’ve been moving around really, so I needed somewhere that I can cool off my head to play good football and get back to my level again [that's why I chose here],” Opare was quoted as saying by Ghanasoccernet.

“The Belgian league is a very nice league. It’s a very young league, a very competitive and a challenging one. I know the league and how things work there.

“There are a lot of quality players who played there before moving away. I played there before moving to Porto. It is a good choice that I made. Belgium is like a second home to me. I feel comfortable when I’m there and hope to be consistent,” he added.

Opare joined Antwerp from German Bundesliga side FC Augsburg as a free agent in July.
