AFC Leopards will kick start their Shield Cup title defense against former Nyanza giants Shabana in this year's edition.
While AFC Leopards have managed to maintain their status in the top tier, Shabana are still finding their way to the top. Despite the contradicting facts and Ingwe coming into the match as clear favorites, chairman Dan Mule says no team should be taken for granted.
“Yes, on paper this is an easier match, like a highway to the next round; however, on the pitch it is different because this is a competition and being a knock-out, we have to trade carefully and ensure we get results that can take us to the next stage.
Shabana is a good team with fanbase, and it will be another derby to us that we cannot afford to lose,” Mule told Goal on Wednesday.
AFC Leopards won last year's edition after defeating Kariobangi 2-0 in the final played at Kasarani.
