Firmino credits Klopp for making Liverpool 'feel like home' and his ongoing improvement

Roberto Firmino credits his ongoing development at Liverpool to Anfield now “feeling like home” and Jurgen Klopp being a “fantastic” coach.

The Brazilian forward was snapped up from Hoffenheim for £29 million in the summer of 2015.

He has never been the most prolific of frontmen, but his willingness to work hard for the good of the collective cause has been embraced since Klopp inherited the Reds reins from Brendan Rodgers.

Firmino has broken into double figures in each of his full campaigns on Merseyside, taking his tally from 11 in 2015-16 to 12 last season, and remains on course to better those figures again this term – with seven efforts netted in all competitions.

Speaking to the Rafael Reis blog about his steady improvement, the 26-year-old said: "It's hard to say one specific reason for this good momentum.

"I'm starting my third season for Liverpool and, year after year, I'm getting more comfortable here, feeling like home, and that's very positive for me.

"Also, having the opportunity to work with Jurgen Klopp has been very positive for my development. He is a manager that is very demanding but has a lot of experience and knows everything there is about football.

"Klopp is a fantastic person. He has that crazy way of celebrating our goals and is a very frantic, but he's an amazing guy.

"Liverpool hit the bullseye when they hired him, and the fact that the club is growing year after year has a lot to do with him.

"I believe that the manager has to find the best position for every player in the team.

"We have a lot of players that like to play on the wings, like [Sadio] Mane and [Mohamed] Salah, and sometimes [Philippe] Coutinho. Jurgen Klopp has been using this formation often and it's working fine.

"I expect that the goals keep flowing and that Liverpool keep winning."

Firmino is currently on duty with the Brazil national side and will be looking to face some of his Liverpool team-mates in an upcoming friendly clash with England at Wembley.

He will also be counting down the days to next summer’s World Cup finals, an event he will hope to head to on the back of helping his club side to long-awaited silverware.
