FC Hansa Rostock complete one-year loan deal for Ghanaian Ofosu-Ayeh

German third-tier side FC Hansa Rostock have signed Ghana defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh on a season-long loan from English side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 26-year-old joined Wolves from German club Eintracht Braunschweig last season but couldn't make a single appearance with the first team.

Hansa Rostock sporting director Markus Thiele has hailed the defender after reuniting with him and believes he will help their course this season.

“With Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, whom I've known from my time at VfR Aalen, we have been able to win a running and strong fighting full-back, which is characterized by its speed and dynamism," Thiele told the club's website.

"In addition to his defensive qualities, as a trained striker, he is also in a position to get involved in the game," he added.

Ofosu-Ayeh expressed his excitement after sealing the deal on Friday and believes it is another opportunity for him to prove his worth.

“I’m happy to be able to play for an association like Hansa Rostock with its tradition, its great conditions and its many fans," he said.

"Hansa gives me the opportunity to regain more match practice and of course I want to give it back by giving gas and helping the team as well as possible,” he added.

Ofosu-Ayeh, who made his Ghana debut in 2015 against Canada, previously had stints with MSV Duisburg and SV Wilhelmshaven.
