EXTRA TIME: Watch Kaizer Chiefs acknowledge 'ghost' fans in empty stadium

Polokwane City beat the Amakhosi 1-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, but that wasn't the biggest talking point of the day

You'd normally think that Kaizer Chiefs losing to a lesser club like Polokwane City would already be the most surprising news.

This time all the talk was about how Amakhosi were playing in an empty stadium due to the punishment set by the PSL for the riots at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on April 21 this year.

Back then Chiefs fans attacked security, cameras and other broadcast equipment when the Amakhosi lost to Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.

Television presenter Robert Marawa made this video of how Chiefs players still acknowledged their fans at the stadium on Saturday, even though there were no fans seated there.

We haven't seen anything like it in football. Watch this unique moment here thanks to Marawa's Twitter.
