Ultimate Fighting Championship [UFC] superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov has revealed his admiration for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, describing him as an icon that should be taken care of.

On the overall, Salah has had an incredible year so far, breaking the English Premier League goalscoring record in a single season after scoring 32 goals in 36 matches among other milestones.

Although both stars are yet to meet, the 30-year-old who became the first Muslim to win a UFC title has lauded the Liverpool player for his ethics and discipline on the football pitch.

Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor to defend his UFC Lightweight title in September and is yet to lose a bout in his professional mixed martial arts career, winning all of his 27 fights.

“I never met him before but I follow him, he is a great player and we need more people like him to reflect our ethics and present us properly to the rest of the world,” the fighter told Al Ittihad per KingFut.

“He made a name of himself because he is disciplined. I feel that Allah is by his side. The new generations need those who are like Mohamed Salah to learn more about how you can be modest, no matter how famous and innovative you are.

“He’s an icon that we should take care of and help reach more success. I admire him and admire the ethics he is spreading every day in Europe.”

Salah continued his goalscoring form in the English top-flight by netting his team’s first goal, before creating two assists in their 4-1 defeat of Cardiff City on Saturday.

The fleet-footed forward has scored five goals in 10 league games so far this season. His next task is to lead Liverpool past Arsenal in this weekend's crunch Premier League tie.
