The 28-year-old is currently recuperating from injury but the Toffees legend believes the club need the winger quickness in their underwhelming attack

Everton legend Peter Reid believes the club needs the pace of Yannick Bolasie to ease their struggles in attack.

The DR Congo international suffered a serious knee injury in the Toffees' 1-1 draw against Manchester United on December 4, 2016.

And while the Merseysiders have struggled to replace the productivity of Romelu Lukaku - who departed for Old Trafford in the summer - scoring just 12 goals in 12 games in the English Premier League, the former Manchester City and Southampton player believes the 28-year-old's pace would solve their problem in attack.

"He [Bolasie] has got pace and I don't think there is enough pace in the Everton side," Reid told Sky Sports.

"Sometimes when you lose a player through injury, as has happened to Everton with Bolasie and Ross Barkley, you only really realise what you are missing when they are out.

“There is no doubt that Everton needs that pace. They need a result and Bolasie could help with both.”

Everton were handed a huge boost on Wednesday morning as Bolasie returned to first-team training after spending 11 months on the sidelines.

The Toffees have struggled in his absence, they currently lie 16th in the English Premier League log and are already out of the Europa League group stage after picking just one point from four games.
