Ethiopia can't shock Ghana in Afcon qualifier, says Acheampong

Former Ghana international Yaw Acheampong believes the Black Stars will defeat Ethiopia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Sunday.

After two games, the Black Stars boast of only three points and could miss out of the competition for the first time in twelve years but Acheampong is hopeful of a win.

"I think with the squad that the coach called for this game, he is definitely going in for a win. In football, anything can happen but I believe Ethiopia can't shock Ghana on Sunday," the 45-year-old told Goal.

"Andre and Jordan Ayew are back and Asamoah Gyan is also fit so we have a solid attack which can score goals to win the game. It is just unfortunate that Kwadwo Asamoah couldn't make the trip due to injury but the remaining players will manage the game without him because they are on a good track.

"These players have been together for so many years so we will witness good football and goals from them on Sunday. Ghana will still qualify for the tournament despite a slow start in the qualifiers," he added.

Acheampong, who is now a coach, earned 18 caps with Ghana and was part of the squad that participated in the 1994 and 1996 Afcon.
