Dylan Kerr aims a dig at FKF President after Gor Mahia lose to Kariobangi Sharks

Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr believes that their FKF Shield Cup match against Kariobangi Sharks should have been postponed.

K’Ogalo were bundled out of the Shield Cup after the coach opted to field a weaker side with the likes of Francis Kahata, Humphrey Mieno, Jacques Tuyisenge, Joash Onyango, George Odhiambo missing out from the team.

The Briton coach has now told Goal that they had not prepared well for the assignment. “We lost to the hungrier side that wanted to get to the semis more. The FKF President knew what he was doing by playing this game on international break hope he can sleep at night.

“What my players have done 20 games in 60 days won the league did amazing in Caf Confederation Cup against all expectations and against a fixture pile up like we have had we can look in the mirror and say yes…I gave it a go; I have done my best my technical staff have done all I ask of them.”

Kerr has also defended the decision to field a weaker side against Kariobangi Sharks. “I would have loved to have my full squad, full team but it was not possible, fatigue had crept in after a long journey from Algeria, the players were tired and needed rest, I had to give them time.”

The Shield semi-finals will be a battle between Kariobangi Sharks against Ulinzi Stars while Sofapaka will confront defending champions AFC Leopards.
