Dreams FC gain promotion to Ghana Premier League

Dreams FC have gained promotion back to the Ghana Premier League following their victory over giants Okwawu United in Zone 3 of the Divison One League on Sunday.

The Kweiman-based club picked a 3-0 win, which was enough to secure a first-place finish in the division one and automatic promotion since they've opened a nine-point gap, after second-place Heart of Lions dropped points from their loss 2-0 to Young Wise on Saturday.

Dreams were found guilty of fielding an unqualified player against Tema Youth last two years and although, they finished eighth in their maiden campaign in the Premier League last season, they were demoted and Tema filled their space.

Aside Dreams qualifying for the 2017/18 season with 70 points, Karela FC have also booked their place to the top-flight for the first time, after winning Zone 2 ahead of New Edubiase United and Bibiani Gold Stars.

However, it's unclear which club will win the race in Zone 1, and although, FA Cup quarter-finalists NEA Salamina are leading the log, there are pending protests at the disciplinary committee of the FA and the outcome can change the standings.

Bolga All Stars have been relegated from the top-flight while Great Olympics, Inter Allies, Liberty Professionals, Ashanti Gold and Elmina Sharks are fighting to beat the drop.
