President of PFF, Mariano Araneta remains optimistic his team can reach knockout stage despite being drawn in the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup group of death.

Philippines are relishing the prospect of being in Group B of the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup despite it being termed, the Group of Death.

In the draw that was done in Mulia Hotel in Jakarta on Wednesday, Philippines were drawn together with Timor Leste/Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.

Even though the chance of The Azkals to progress past the group is slim, the Philippines Football Federation president, Mariano Araneta is still holding on to his faith in his team. He believes that if he side that reach the semi-final, they can beat anyone in the tournament.

"This group is like the last edition. It's obvious that it is a tough group," said Araneta to Goal. "First we have to take on Singapore at home, then away to Timor Leste or Brunei. Followed by Thailand at home and then Indonesia away."

Araneta admitted that his federation will be making special preparations to ensure a good tournament in the upcoming competition. He even predicted that one from either Indonesia or Thailand will follow them through to the next stage.

"Of course we will prepare well for the AFF Championship this time Who will follow us out from Group B? Indonesia or Thailand. I think between the two but I'm not saying which one," he added.
