Hoarau had been leading the pack heading into this previous weekend’s matches but fired blanks as Young Boys were held to a 0-0 draw by Thun also on Sunday.

Doumbia has been recalled join the Elephants for the friendly against Netherlands on June 4 and Guinea in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier five days later by new coach Marc Wilmots, his first call-up since November 2015.

Sebastien Fournier and Chadrac Akolo of FC Sion

Another African hopeful of the top-scorer crown in the Central European country is DR Congo attacker Chadrac Akolo of Sion.

Akolo also fired blanks for Sion in their 1-1 draw at St. Gallen. The 22-year-old currently has 15 goals, two behind Doumbia and Horau in the race for top scorer.

With one more game to go before the end of the season, it remains to be seen if Akolo, Doumbia or Hoarau will reign supreme on the final day of the season.
