Dauda happy to end Ghana PL goal drought

Hearts of Oak striker Cosmos Dauda expressed relief after scoring his first goal this season, as the Phobians crushed Bechem United 4-2 in matchday ten of the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old's last goal prior to the game was against Techiman City in August last year.

With the scoreline against Bechemn standing at 3-2 and Hearts coming under increasing pressure, Dauda slotted away a simple tap in to break the visitors’ ambitions of salvaging a draw.

“I really think I have disappointed a lot of people who had so much confidence in me this season and like always if results are poor you get criticised and receive praise should it go right. But I am grateful,” Dauda said.

“I am happy to have afforded them a smile with my goal because it is a big relief. I will thank my teammates for the support when things weren't working as planned.

“I can assure them the best is yet to come this season. I am not relaxing but will continue to train hard and keep scoring,” he added.

Hearts will be heading to Obuasi this weekend to play Ashanti Gold and Dauda has assured the supporters a victory.

“Obuasi is a difficult ground, especially when you're playing against Ashanti Gold. However, we will do our best and make it two wins in a succession. We need to maintain the winning streak to be able to fight for the trophy,” he said.

Dauda was Hearts' topscorer last season with eleven goals from 21 games.
