The former Perak and Selangor centre back put in a lot of praise for the work Irfan Bakti has done at TFC and also reserved special mentions for MIFA.

The 2018 Malaysia Cup enter match day four starting tomorrow and as each group start to take shape, the contenders and also-rans for the oldest cup competition in the country will also start to be separated.

A pundit with iflix these days after hanging up his playing boots, Robert Cornthwaite spent a lot of time watching and analysing those matches. Goal caught up with the former Australian international on who are the ones that are making headlines and who will fall by the wayside in the coming weeks.

Cornthwaite was quick to note that despite not taking into much considerations teams from the lower divisions prior to the start of the competition, he's now happy to admit his mistake and is rooting for them to reach the next phase of the competition.

"There's been two surprises and they've both been from the Premier League. Felda have done very very well but the team that's surprised me the most has been MIFA. They've been fantastic. They beat Johor away in Larkin.

"They've got two of the last three games at home, so I picked them to go through the group even though initially I tipped them to finish last in the group. Felda got a great win coming from behind against PKNS last weekend and top of the group as well. They are top of their group as well," said Cornthwaite on Friday.

Yet despite the rise of both Felda United and MISC-MIFA, there's another team that interest Cornthwaite. Without discounting the quality that are in perenial challengers in Pahang and Johor Darul Ta'zim, there's one more to team that he thinks people should look out for.

"But I think in terms of form, the one that's most in-form in Terengganu, even though they drew their last match. Their foreigners are in good form with Lee Tuck and Tchetche Kipre doing great things.

"Pahang are always dangerous in the cups but people will always be talking about Johor. They destroyed everyone in the league but perhaps not as consistent in the league. They will be under pressure to pick up some points in the last three games," added the 32-year-old.
