KCB is making a return to the top tier for the first time in three years

KCB joined Western Stima as the two sides to have gained automatic promotion to the 2018/19 Kenyan Premier League.

This is after the Bankers downed FC Talanta 2-0 on Sunday in the National Super League game.

KCB needed goals from Dennis Gicheru and Simon Abuko to hit the 75 point-mark and earn the qualification slot. Caretaker coach Elvis Ayany is happy with the character displayed by his charges, who earned the promotion with one round of matches still left to the conclusion of the season.

"There was pressure but at the end of the day, we managed to get the result that we wanted to qualify. We deserve to be where we are right now; it is from our hard work on and off the pitch.

"We are aware of what is awaiting us in the top tier, but we are ready for it thanks to the competitive season we have had."
