Chelsea v Everton Betting: Toffees to provide stern test of champions' mettle

Chelsea celebrate
The Blues are looking for their first home win of the season while the visitors have begun strongly and we think there should be goals at both ends

Chelsea's title defence has begun in somewhat turbulent fashion, with matters on and off the pitch seemingly a far cry from the stability of last season.

The Blues have looked vulnerable in their two matches so far which have brought a 3-2 home defeat by Burnley and a late 2-1 win at Spurs, and this has been compounded by rumours about the future of the manager.

Antonio Conte will nevertheless be in the dugout on Sunday lunchtime when an impressive Everton visit Stamford Bridge, and if Burnley caused Chelsea problems on the opening day, the Toffees should be able to as well.

Ronaldo Koeman's side have already played six matches this season including their Europa League qualifiers, during which time they are unbeaten and have scored in every game.

It has been a busy week for the Merseysiders with Monday seeing them draw 1-1 at Manchester City and Thursday yielding a draw in Croatia against Hadjuk Split by the same scoreline.

Everton are priced at 15/2 (8.50)  with bet365 to claim their second league win of the season, while Chelsea are offered at 9/20 (1.45) and the draw can be backed at 7/2 (4.50) .

One selection stands out clearly for this game and that is backing both teams to score at a generous-looking 21/20 (2.05) . This selection proved a regular winner at Stamfrod Bridge last season and has paid out in nine of Chelsea's last 11 home league fixtures.

The last time the Blues failed to score at home in a league game was 16th April 2016 and they can generally be relied upon for goals.

Everton, for their part, have already started strongly, scoring in all six of their competitive matches this term, while the Goodison Park outfit have also netted in 10 of their last 13  away games in the Premier League.

For higher odds, combining both teams to score an over 2.5 goals offers us the healthy price of 8/5 (2.60) while Everton are offered at 9/2 (5.50) to score two or more goals.

Both teams to score at 21/20 (2.05) for a 2.5pt stake with bet365
