Kaizer Chiefs have announced that they have fired Italian coach Giovanni Solinas.
The Soweto giants struggled under the well-travelled tactician, who was appointed a few weeks before the current campaign started.
The team has endured a slow start to the season having accumulated 18 points from 14 matches in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Amakhosi were also eliminated from the MTN8 Cup and Telkom Knockout Cup as Solinas struggled to find a winning formula.
His last match in charge of the Glamour Boys ended in a 2-1 defeat in favour of Zimamoto of Zanzibar in the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup in midweek.
The Chiefs management has since decided to terminate Solinas' contract five months into his first season with the club.
The club revealed that assistant coach Patrick Mabedi's contract has also been terminated.
A club statement read: "Kaizer Chiefs and coach Giovanni Solinas have mutually agreed to an amicable termination of his contract with immediate effect. The Italian coach took charge of Amakhosi in July 2018.
"Assistant coach Patrick Mabedi’s contract has also been terminated. We would like to express our gratitude to both for all the efforts during their time at Kaizer Chiefs and wish them well."
"The club will make further announcements in due course."
Former Malawi and Chiefs captain Mabedi had joined the club's technical team as an assistant coach in June, 2017.
Chiefs' next match is against their Gauteng rivals SuperSport United in a PSL on Wednesday.
