Cape Town City attacking midfielder Surprise Ralani says that they are oozing with confidence ahead of their first game of the 2018/19 campaign on Saturday.

The Citizens will play host to SuperSport United in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) match at the Cape Town Stadium in the Mother City on Saturday. Kick-off is at 18h00.

They are heading into this encounter having won the 2018 Mpumalanga Cultural Experience after defeating Kaizer Chiefs at the Mbombela Stadium last weekend.

Ralani stated that they will be using the game as preparation for their MTN8 Cup clash with Maritzburg United.

"SuperSport is a good club and everyone knows that,” Ralani told Vodacom Soccer.

The Citizens will travel to the Harry Gwala Stadium where they are expected to take on Maritzburg in a quarter-final encounter on Sunday, August 12. Kick-off is at 15h00.

They will be hoping to reach the final of the lucrative top eight competition for the second year running. They lost to SuperSport in last year’s final.

“It will be a good morale booster to win that game before we play the MTN8 (against Maritzburg United),” he added.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder lauded SuperSport as a great team and also expecting an exciting match.

"We will focus on the league game first, before the cup game. It will be an exciting game, because it's a great club we are playing against,” he concluded.

Ralani hit the ground running after joining the Citizens from Swedish Superettan side Helsingborg midway through the 2017/18 campaign.

The Northern Cape-born player featured in 13 league games and helped the team finish fourth on the PSL standings.

He also made two appearances in the Nedbank Cup and he hit the back of the net once as they lost to Mamelodi Sundowns.
