Bechem United midfielder Sampson Wirekoh Boampong has insisted that their 3-0 defeat to Inter Allies on 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season opening day can't be blamed on tiredness, despite a long pre-season schedules, following an injunction from Great Olympics which halted all plans initially.
Niger forward Victorien Adebayor scored two goals on his league debut at the Tema Sports on Saturday while Dan Amanfo fetched the other goal as Kenichi Yatsuhashi men moved to summit of the log.
"We're of course frustrated but believe we didn't have a good day. This defeat can't be linked with the numerous games played during the pre-season," Boampong told Goal.
"The players aren't tired. They did their best but Allies were obviously the better side on the day and took their chances. They deserved to win but we'll go back and correct the wrongs ahead of our first game at home.
"The season is still young since there are 29 games to be played. The remaining games will be crucial and that can determine how one finishes," he added.
Bechem will welcome Medeama to the Fosu Gyeabour Park next weekend.
