Black Stars management committee chief unhappy with the sidelining of 'football people' in Ghana reform

Tema Youth bankroller and chairman of the Black Stars management committee Wilfred Kwaku Osei is the latest to call on the Ghanaian government to rethink its decision to establish a new order of football administration.

Plans to "dissolve" the 'old' management for a new one have commenced on the back of a recent corruption scandal that has rocked the country's football.

An investigative documentary exposed corrupt and match-fixing activities of top officials and referees of the football association, resulting in a halt in all activities of the sport while government undertakes steps to overhaul the old order.

“Government cannot do reforms in Ghana football without the involvement of the 'football people'," Osei told Onua FM

“Football people are part of football in Ghana, and ignoring them may not be the best from the government and for the reforms.

“Some Ghanaians have a bad mindset about 'football people'. Those perceptions are wrong.

“I will advise them to start changing their wrong perceptions about us.”

On Friday, the authorities held a meeting with Fifa representatives in Accra to discuss issues surrounding the current impasse, with no member of the GFA attending.

A statement after the conference said Fifa, in consultation with the Ghanaian government, will put in place interim measures to allow for the continuation of football in Ghana.
